Without a doubt, the current crisis is the biggest challenge our industry has ever faced. Now is the time to come together.
For us at Avinor Traffic Development, as for everyone in the aviation industry, these are turbulent days. Travel restrictions, social distancing, and other efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus have all but erased near-term demand for air travel.
Because of Norway’s geography, the country depends on aviation, which plays a vital role for critical companies and services, including the health sector. Therefore, we are currently focused on keeping the infrastructure going. However, we are still open for business while adapting to the situation.
In a time like this, it’s important to share silver linings, such as China’s recovery from the virus. Correspondingly, you can see hope in China’s aviation industry. According to Capa, domestic seat capacity has “bottomed” in China. The report adds that “China’s airlines have updated their expectations for the national Labor Day’s holiday period (1-5 May-2020) by filing more capacity for this period than in prior weeks.”
What can we do to help in this situation? For us, it is essential to support our airline partners in every way we can. Don’t hesitate to contact us for any enquiries or to discuss the present situation as well as the post-crisis future. We are also directly involved in managing the crisis by ensuring the well-being of our colleagues, passengers and partners.
Our team has found comfort in thinking ahead. This crisis will come to an end – and the new era will present us with changes as well as opportunities. But first and foremost, we believe it is crucial these days to keep in touch, share ideas and support each other. Many scenarios are on the horizon, but we can all help each other get through this together. Stay well, everyone.
